Quick Start Guide

Get up and running with Xelon HQ in five steps. From your first login to launching your first virtual machine.

Welcome to Xelon HQ

Xelon HQ is your cloud management platform for deploying and managing virtual infrastructure. This guide walks you through the essentials so you can start building in minutes.

Log in to Xelon HQ

Open your browser and navigate to hq.xelon.ch. Enter the email address and password provided by your organization administrator. If your organization uses single sign-on (SSO), select the appropriate identity provider on the login screen.

Tip

Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your account for an additional layer of security. You can configure this from your user profile (click your avatar in the top-right corner) after logging in.

Explore the Dashboard

After logging in, you land on the main dashboard. This overview provides a snapshot of your infrastructure at a glance:

  • Quick links — Shortcuts to common actions: Organization Profile, Create Device, Create Organization, and Billing Details.
  • Infrastructure summary — Counts of active organizations, devices (with active/disabled breakdown), K8s clusters, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Resources — Breakdown of resource consumption by type (CPU, RAM, storage, network) per cloud location.
  • Billing & Invoices — Current credit balance and recent invoices.
  • User's Eventlog — A chronological feed of recent actions performed by users in your organization, filterable by category.

Navigate the Sidebar

The left sidebar is your primary navigation tool. It is organized into the following sections:

Section Description
Virtual Datacenter All Devices, Disaster Recovery, Templates & ISOs, Networking (with sub-tabs for All Networks, DNS Zones, Firewalls, Load Balancer, WAF), S3 Object Storage, and Infrastructure Environments.
Kubernetes Kubernetes cluster management (Talos-based, marked Beta) and Persistent Storage (marked Beta).
Billing & Reports Billing Details (invoices, payment methods, credits, billing plans) and Usage Reports.
Tip

The sidebar sections visible to you depend on your assigned permissions. If a section is missing, contact your organization administrator to request access.

Create Your First Organization

Organizations (referred to as tenants in the system) are the top-level containers for all your resources. Every virtual machine, network, and billing record belongs to an organization.

  1. Navigate to Manage All Organizations in the sidebar.
  2. Click Create Organization.
  3. Fill in the organization name, address, and billing contact details.
  4. Click Save to create the organization.

Once created, you can invite users and assign permissions. See the Organizations guide for full details on managing tenants.

Create Your First Virtual Machine

With an organization in place, you are ready to deploy your first VM:

  1. Go to Virtual Datacenter > All Devices in the sidebar.
  2. Click Create Device (or use the Create Device link on the dashboard).
  3. Select an operating system template (e.g., Ubuntu, Windows Server).
  4. Configure hardware: choose CPU cores, RAM, and disk size and type.
  5. Select a network and optionally attach an SSH key for secure access.
  6. Review the configuration summary and click Create.

Your VM will be provisioned within moments. For comprehensive VM management options, see the Virtual Machines documentation.
