Notifications

Stay informed about infrastructure events, system announcements, and operational status.

Overview

Xelon HQ provides a real-time notification system that keeps you informed about important events in your infrastructure. Notifications are delivered instantly through WebSocket connections, ensuring you receive updates without needing to refresh the page.

Real-Time Notifications

Notifications are delivered in real-time via a persistent WebSocket connection. When an event occurs (such as a VM state change, backup completion, or system alert), a notification badge appears on the bell icon in the top navigation bar.

Notification Type Examples
Infrastructure events VM created, VM stopped, VM deleted, snapshot completed.
Backup & DR events Backup job completed, backup failed, replication sync completed.
Network events Firewall rule applied, load balancer updated, DNS zone modified.
Billing events Invoice generated, payment processed, payment failed.
Security events New login detected, password changed, 2FA enabled or disabled.

Notification Feed

Click the bell icon () in the top navigation bar to open the notification dropdown. When there are unread notifications, a red dot appears on the bell icon. The feed displays recent notifications with the most recent first. Each notification includes:

  • A brief description of the event
  • Timestamp of when the event occurred
  • Read/unread status indicator

Click on a notification to mark it as read. If you have many notifications, click Load more at the bottom of the dropdown to see additional entries.

System Announcements

System announcements are platform-wide messages from the Xelon HQ team about scheduled maintenance, new features, service updates, or known issues. Announcements appear as a banner at the top of the main interface, below the header.

Viewing announcements

Active announcements are displayed prominently when you log in. Click on an announcement to read its full content, including any action items or timelines.

Updates widget

In addition to announcements, the sidebar includes a megaphone icon that opens the product updates and changelog widget, keeping you informed about new features and improvements.

Maintenance announcements

Pay close attention to scheduled maintenance announcements. They include timing, expected impact, and any actions you may need to take to minimize disruption to your workloads.

WebSocket connection

Notifications require an active WebSocket connection. If your browser tab is inactive for an extended period, notifications will be retrieved when the tab becomes active again.
